Doing CFP as a group
Congregations, community groups, and circles of friends are expressing an interest in participating in Change for Peace as a group spiritual discipline.
We celebrate this possibility of deepening daily prayers, and communal collections of funds.
Some may choose to collect funds weekly into a common container - making a ritual of the weekly gathering up of prayers and coins.
Consider having Change for Peace participants share their experience of engaging in a regular spiritual practice centered on peace. Some may want to share their choice container with the congregation.
The effort to gather information about local initiatives who are potential recipients can be shared among the group - creating even more connection and mutual awareness of local efforts to heal and build shalom.
We believe this can support longer term relationships and engagement between individuals, groups/congregations, and community initiatives, magnifying the healing and the felt sense of God's presence in the community, expanding the possibilities of God's shalom.
"Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within/among you." Luke 17:20-21, NIV
